An Interview with Natashna Anderson

Q: How have your personal experiences or personality influenced your design ideas?

Regardless of the project, I strive to maintain a personal connection to my work. Balancing artistic voice within large-scale projects can be challenging, but it is essential to me that my interests, personality, and experiences are reflected in everything I create.

Q: How do you incorporate your personal style into home design projects?

Incorporating my personal style into home design projects has been a challenge! Interestingly, the art I create is quite different from the aesthetic of my home. Recently, I've been exploring ways to merge my artistic practice with my living space, as the two have always felt separate. Through this process, I've realized that I have a deep love for color—both in my artwork and in my home. I gravitate toward bold hues, mixing and matching patterns and textures. I often use large pops of color as focal points, such as a vibrant blue or pink couch, and then curate the rest of the space around it. I also love framing and displaying my own artwork, as I believe our spaces should be a reflection of who we are and our life journeys.

Q:What drew you to collaborate with our rug brand?

Over time, my apartment has evolved from a mid-century modern aesthetic into an eclectic, expressive space filled with funky art and furniture. I first discovered Lany Space Co. through an artist I followed on Instagram who had collaborated with them. I hadn't heard of the brand before, but once I did, I realized what I had been missing! Their rugs stood out from anything else on the market, and the fact that they partnered directly with artists made me even more eager to connect with them.

Q: What was your first impression of Lany Space rugs and our style?

My first impression of Lany Space rugs was that their style was colorful, eclectic, and unmistakably unique—qualities that also define my collection. "Auric Rhythm" is inspired by Black identity in the 1990s, with abstract shapes representing popular jewelry of the era, such as necklaces, rings, and earrings. This design is special to me because I love how vibrant the colors are and I think it would make an amazing focal piece in a living room! "Auric Rhythm" would be described as cultural, bold, and playful!

Natashna Anderson drew inspiration from 90s Black culture, where jewelry was not just for style but for showing who you are.

Every curve feels alive. Some stretch out, some pull back, like jewelry moving with you.

There is no fixed pattern, just a lot of little stories crossing paths.

The colors stay soft and warm, with enough pop to brighten the room without making it loud.

Available in 5Ɨ7 ft (152Ɨ213 cm) and 7Ɨ10 ft (213Ɨ305 cm) sizes, It is perfect for studios, living rooms, or anywhere you want a space to feel full of life without feeling messy.
